Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) registered a growth of 108pc in the month of May 2012. The company sold 15,501 units as compared to 7,470 units in May last year. Etios recorded sales of 4,270 units as compared to 3,412 units in May last year, thereby registering a 25pc growth. Etios Liva recorded sales of 2,587 units in May. The New Innova sold 6,710 units last month as compared to 2,961 units sold in May last year, thereby registering a growth of 127pc. The New Fortuner sold 1,399 units as compared to 672 units in the corresponding month last year thereby registering a 108pc growth. The Corolla Altis sold 523 units. “Production was affected by Tsunami last year, thus affecting sales in May 2011, with 7,470 units being sold. Last month, Etios, Etios Liva, New Innova and New Fortuner continue to show good results because of high customer confidence. The sales have been good, despite the low market sentiments. However, with the rupee weakening, we are unable to retain the current prices. We are forced to pass a part of it to our customers. There will be a 1pc increase in the prices of Etios diesel and Innova and a 0.5pc increase in Fortuner and Etios Liva Diesel, with effect from 1st June.” said Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director- Marketing.
